Alternative Entry to University and Tertiary StudiesInterested in going back to study but unsure whether you have the right qualifications? There are a range of alternative entry routes and bridging or tertiary preparation courses available. For non-school leavers, many universities, colleges, and TAFE will take into consideration not just school results, but work experience, professional qualifications, and aptitude tests. The policies of each university or college varies, so for further information contact the tertiary admissions centre for your state:
Tertiary Preparation CoursesTertiary preparation or bridging courses are equivalent to a high school certificate and are designed as a pathway for people who did not complete year 12 or need to upgrade their results. However, because not all universities and colleges treat tertiary preparation courses the same, you should check with your state tertiary admissions centre (linked above) whether it will get you into the course you're aiming for. The course is typically one year long and, in some cases, may count towards a university degree.
